Integrative Counselling, EMDR and Psychotherapy in Sandhurst, Berkshire
Hi, I’m Lorraine. Welcome & thank you for visiting my website.
If you are looking for support for anxiety, depression, burnout, stress, relationship challenges, bereavement, trauma, PTSD, self-esteem, phobias and major life transitions, or perhaps you're feeling lost or just need a listening ear, please read further, and if I sound like a good fit for you, please get in touch as I'd love to hear from you.

I have had the privilege over the past two decades of supporting clients through some of their toughest challenges. I work with adults struggling with anxiety, low mood, relationship challenges, stress, trauma, & grief and loss. Clients come for many different reasons; sometimes feeling stuck, overwhelmed or generally unhappy with their experience in life, usually seeking clarity, relief and/or a desire to regain a sense of control.
I endeavour to provide a gentle, supportive & therapeutic space where your individual experience remains the central focus. It is an opportunity to work at your pace, to enable you to make sense of what is going on in your life, understand patterns, develop practical tools, and help you get in touch with your inner resources so you can move forward with greater confidence, resilience and direction.
Working through life's difficult challenges can be overwhelming, weighing you down & draining your energy. This can leave you exhausted & unable to see a clear path forward. I specialise in helping you rise from that quagmire, make sense of your world, untangle from the confusion & fear and begin to live the life you deserve.
I'm a BACP accredited counsellor, working face-to-face from my practice in Sandhurst.
I work integratively. That basically means I weave different approaches I have studied over my twenty-five years in the counselling world to create bespoke sessions to meet your needs specifically. Sessions are as individual as you are. I aim to keep you at the centre of the counselling process.
Counselling provides a secure environment for you to explore any issues or challenges you may be encountering. It offers an opportunity to discuss your concerns and focus on what is significant to you.
You are welcome to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. You will be listened to without judgment or criticism. I believe that meaningful change happens when you have a reliable, non judgemental space to explore your thoughts, feelings & the relationship with yourself. We work at your pace to help you process your experiences to allow you to move forward in a way that feels authentic to you.

My approach combines insight with practical strategies, helping you process difficult experiences, manage emotions, improve relationships and create lasting change. I believe you are an expert on you, and once given the right conditions and support, you can find your answers and begin to flourish.

The benefits of counselling are varied and very individual. Some of the benefits may be a feeling of emotional growth & awareness, a clearer mind, better decision making, feeling more resilient, a shift in self-esteem and confidence, building a positive relationship with yourself and others, and developing tools to support your everyday experiences. Some clients report feeling lighter and less burdened, a sense of moving from existing to truly living.
When you feel ready, please get in touch as I would love to hear from you.
I offer a free 15-minute consultation where we can talk about what is bringing you to counselling, see if we are a good fit, and answer any questions you may have.
There is no obligation to continue. If I am not the right person for you, I will happily signpost you in the right direction.
I work from my home practice in Sandhurst, Berkshire. There's parking available at the property. Sandhurst train station is a 7-minute walk away, and there are good bus links to the area. Please note there are steps to access the practice, so unfortunately, it's not wheelchair accessible.
I work with clients from across the local area, including Crowthorne, Camberley, Yateley and Wokingham, Farnborough, Fleet, Bracknell, Finchampstead, Hartley Wintney, Ascot, Windsor and the surrounding areas.

What's the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?
Counselling is usually a good way to help with a current problem; something that can be discussed and hopefully resolved within a limited number of sessions. Over a certain number of weeks the understanding of the problem improves and a way forward becomes clearer. Psychotherapy often describes work that goes a bit deeper, towards more substantial life issues and problems having a deeper effect on your life. Psychotherapy often requires a long-term approach, so the number of sessions can be open-ended.
Which option is most suitable depends on you and the difficulties you are facing. Psychotherapy works well as an ongoing, longer term option or counselling can manage to resolve an issue in just a few sessions.
How long will I need counselling?
How long a period of counselling lasts will vary from person to person and depend on the depth of the issues they are facing. For some people a couple of sessions helps to bring their problems into focus, and they feel ready to move forward; other problems may require more of an open-ended approach.
Before we begin any work we will agree on the number of sessions we’ll undertake, and at the end of that number, review our progress. As long as we both agree further therapy will be of benefit to you, sessions can continue.
How long will I have to wait for an appointment?
My aim is to offer a first appointment - known as an initial assessment - within 1-2 weeks. Then we would arrange a set number of counselling sessions to take place ideally at the same time every week although sometimes this needs more flexibility depending on your commitments.
Will everything I say be kept confidential?
Everything that is said within the counselling room is private - this is one of the main ways counselling and psychotherapy differ from talking to a friend or relative. Once you are comfortable with the format of weekly sessions and the safe space they provide, you will find the freedom to speak in confidence is of great value.
Note that in serious cases if you were to be a risk to yourself or others, I have a duty of care required by law to notify an authority. In these rare cases, I am unable to keep confidentiality.
Can I bring a friend or relative with me?
Usually I am asked this question by people who are nervous about entering into counselling, or when they are looking for support in coming to see a counsellor. This anxiety is understandable, but a key aspect of counselling is that you should feel free to talk about any issues you feel are important to you. Having someone else with you makes opening-up more difficult, so for this reason I do not see clients accompanied by friends or family.
